About the Center

Where Expertise Meets Empathy

Dr. Goodmanson

Your Surgeon

Ryan M. Goodmanson, DO

Complex & Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery

Ryan M. Goodmanson, DO is a fellowship-trained surgeon specializing in complex and minimally invasive spine surgery, and Director of the Advanced Spine Center.

He completed an AO-accredited spine surgery fellowship at Swedish Medical Center and the Seattle Science Foundation, training under Jens Chapman, MD and Rod Oskouian, MD — internationally recognized leaders in spinal reconstruction and deformity correction. He completed his orthopedic surgery residency through Michigan State University, where he served as Chief Orthopedic Resident.

His practice is built on a single principle: achieve the best possible outcome with the least invasive technique the problem allows. In practice, that means an honest assessment of whether surgery is the right answer, minimally invasive options whenever they're appropriate, and the expertise to take on the complex deformity and revision cases that many surgeons turn away.

Fellowship — Complex & Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery (AO-accredited), Swedish Medical Center / Seattle Science Foundation

Residency — Orthopedic Surgery, Michigan State University / McLaren Macomb (Chief Orthopedic Resident)

Technology & Innovation

Robotic Precision in Spine Surgery

The Medtronic StealthAXIS™ robotic platform brings next-generation surgical accuracy to our operating rooms — and our patients.

Robotic-Assisted Surgery

The Medtronic StealthAXIS™ platform pairs a rigid robotic arm with full navigation, allowing Dr. Goodmanson to execute complex fusions with sub-millimeter precision through minimally invasive corridors.

3D Navigation & Planning

Intraoperative 3D imaging maps the patient's unique anatomy in real time, so every screw trajectory is planned and verified before placement — reducing error and radiation exposure.

Precision Instrumentation

Robotic guidance eliminates hand tremor and confirms trajectory accuracy, translating to safer, more predictable outcomes and faster patient recovery.

Lower Radiation, Smaller Incisions

By minimizing fluoroscopy and working through small incisions, robotic-assisted techniques reduce tissue disruption and operative time, supporting a quicker return to daily life.

A Milestone for Michigan

The first Spine AXIS robotic fusion case in the state — performed by our team.
